Baobab Commerce
Shopping, seller operations, and verified delivery in a connected commerce platform.
Made for buyers, sellers, and delivery teams.
Overview
This platform family is under active development. The scope below describes its intended design; deployment readiness and supported capabilities must be confirmed for each engagement.
An online marketplace succeeds when a buyer can trust the complete journey. A product listing alone cannot establish who is selling, whether an order is ready, who will deliver it, or when a seller receives payment. Those responsibilities need to work together.
Baobab Commerce connects the storefront to seller operations and delivery coordination. Each participant has a focused application, while a shared backend owns the relationships between verification, inventory, orders, payments, and fulfilment. GhanaPost GPS and landmark-based addressing reflect the practical context of delivery in Ghana.
What is included
Buyer marketplace
Discover and purchase
The buyer-facing marketplace offers product discovery, product detail, cart, checkout, and order tracking. Phone OTP identity supports participation without making an email address or password the centre of the experience.
The purchase journey connects an order to its seller, payment record, and delivery state. Reviews provide a further part of the marketplace interaction. Server-rendered storefront pages make public product information accessible through direct links and search-oriented pages.
Seller dashboard
Turn listings into fulfilment
Sellers manage products, categories, stock, images, and orders through a dedicated dashboard. Onboarding and verification establish the seller's status before protected marketplace activities become available.
The product treats fulfilment as a workflow with explicit stages. Sellers can follow their orders and financial records, while the backend maintains the relationship between delivery confirmation and settlement. This creates a clearer operational picture than a catalogue connected to a separate chat-based order process.
Delivery-agent application
Complete the last mile
Delivery agents use a progressive web application to participate in the delivery network. Agent verification, available work, job acceptance, and delivery updates connect the rider's activity to the marketplace order.
Address details support GhanaPost GPS alongside landmarks, recognising that a useful delivery instruction may need more than a street address. Validated transitions keep accepted, dispatched, and completed work consistent with the order and payment journey.
Built with
Baobab modelled orders, payment handling, and delivery as related stateful workflows. Payment webhooks and financial services connect provider events to internal records, with exact money handling and transaction boundaries protecting consequential changes.
The architecture combines a Next.js marketplace with React-based seller, admin, and agent applications. A Hono API on Cloudflare Workers coordinates backend features, Neon PostgreSQL stores relational business data, and R2 and Queues support media and asynchronous work. Shared domain rules, authentication primitives, and validated contracts keep the applications connected without duplicating the core logic.
